Arméniens et Chrétiens en Palestine : Passé - 1915 - Présent

Image . Image .

Image . Image . Sarkis TOROSSIAN 1891-1954 ~~ Page du Musée du Génocide (Érévan, Arménie) ~~ “From Dardanelles to Palestine”: The story of Armenian soldier Sarkis Torossian ~~

Image . AL-HAYAT . Al-Hayat London newspaper has published an article devoted to the novel “From Dardanelles to Palestine” in which the author talks about Sarkis Torossian, who was born in the Ottoman Empire, was a brilliant soldier, graduated a military college and went on to receive his higher education in Germany. He served in the army and became very popular. He modestly defended and reinforced the country’s interests and borders.

The book was translated and published by the Arab Riad Alrayis Publishing House.

The book was presented by Joseph Keshishian and was translated by Abdul Rrahman Ayasi. The Turkish translation was done by Professor of the University of Belgium, Turkish historian Ihan Aktar in 2012.

The reader can clearly see that the name “Torossian” and Torossian’s victories in the Battle of Gallipoli have been completely deleted from the history of Turkey. Several military ships of the enemy were destroyed thanks to Torossian.

The Arabic publication of the book coincides with the events dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.

In the book, Torossian recalls the beautiful images of the East, as well as the war and the threats.

In the preface, Keshishian refers to Sarkis as “The Torossian of the Arabs” and mentions the role of the Arabs in saving Armenians from annihilation. “The Armenians survived thanks to the Arabs who, with their virtue, let the Armenians maintain their national and religious traditions and granted them all the rights that they didn’t have on the lands of their ancestors.”

InfoHay1915 #920
Did you know that Armenians are one of the few peoples who saw the Prophet Muhammad همل الش الله عليه وسلم live and received his blessing? According to Arab historian Zaki Aldin, the Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem Ibrahim in 626 went to Mecca headed by a delegation of 40 prominent Armenian representatives to meet the Prophet and ask for his personal protection.

The Prophet العربيةل في الله عليه وسلم received the Armenians with warmth and care, and gave them a message after the meeting that read: “I am Muhammad bin Abdullah, the Prophet of Allah and the servant of Allah, I express my respect to Patriarch Ibrahim and all the heads of bishops and priests in Jerusalem, Damascus and other Arab lands – all who honor Jerusalem, including Ethiopians and the Copts. And the Assyrians, I acknowledge and ensure the safety of their administration, churches, educational centers, property and lands, I, the Prophet Muhammad, bear witness to the will of God, and 30 people around me, grant care, protection and mercy to the Armenian churches, wherever they are, throughout Jerusalem - the Tomb of the Holy Christ, the Church of St. Jacob, the Church of Bethlehem and all prayer houses, monasteries, Galilee and places Holiness, as I assure that my protection extends to Christian hills, valleys and income-generating institutions, I declare all this in my name as a prophet and Muslim believers.”

The heirs of the Prophet, who used to call the righteous caliphs, every time affirmed the rights of Armenians in shrines and religious property, and in 638, caliph Omar bin Al-Khattab followed the commandments of the Prophet, whose charter issued immediately after the opening of Jerusalem, and after Omar, the son-in-law of Prophet Ali bin Abi Talib affirmed the right of Armenia in shrines and property, and released his founder Islam on the Armenians and other ancient religious denominations “Al-Dhmi”, which means in Arabic “people of the book” or “people of agreement”.

For fairness it must be mentioned that even during the years of fierce wars with the Crusaders, the Armenian clerics did not deny their right to the shrines of Jerusalem, for example, when Caliph Salahuddin in 1187 expelled 100 thousand Christians from Jerusalem and banned church services, he excluding local Armenians, affirming in his charter the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, and also Caliphs Omar and Ali, Salahuddin, unlikely, was guided in his politics by the fact that his Kurdish family came from the Armenian city of Defin, by the way, Salahuddin even reduced the taxes imposed on Armenian traders and pilgrims.
